How to Add Coaching to Your Yoga, Reiki, or Wellness Practice

become a coach & build your business
Expand Your Wellness Income and Impact With Coaching

You’ve already earned something every business needs: women who know you, like you, and trust you. They come to your yoga classes, book Reiki sessions, and return to your wellness practice because they value what you bring.

The trouble is the business model. Every class needs your presence. Every session takes another hour out of your week. Preparation, travel, notes, and administration fill the spaces between appointments.

Adding coaching to your yoga, Reiki, or wellness practice gives you another way to serve the women who already trust you. A professional methodology and a structured coaching offer turn that relationship into a deeper engagement, with a clear purpose, a defined schedule, and pricing that supports the work.

Your training deserves a business that supports you

I spent more than twenty years teaching yoga and creating educational certification programs. I know what goes into this work: years of study, practice, continuing education, and learning how to meet the person in front of you.

You’ve invested in becoming good at what you do. You bring real skill. The market’s willingness to pay for an individual class or session frequently fails to reflect that investment.

Eventually, the arithmetic catches up with you. There are only so many classes you’ll teach in a week. Only so many people you’ll see privately. A full calendar earns its revenue by consuming your time.

Coaching adds a distinct service to your practice. A woman hires you for a process that helps her work through a specific problem and make changes in her life. You define the focus, the length of the engagement, and the support she receives.

That structure gives you something concrete to price, deliver, and build a business around.

You’ve already done the work of earning their trust

A woman who’s practiced with you for two years knows your attention, consistency, and judgment. She’s experienced your work. Your relationship gives a new offer somewhere to begin.

Listen to what she brings into the room. The job she’s exhausted by. The relationship she keeps questioning. The years she’s spent attending to everyone else while losing track of what she wants.

These conversations point toward the help she’s looking for. Professional coaching training gives you a method for providing that help responsibly.

You learn how to guide inquiry, establish an agreed objective, support decisions, and recognize when a client needs another professional. The credential communicates your preparation. Your skill and judgment substantiate it.

Eighteen clients a week. $12,600 a month. Exhausted.

I worked with a wellness practitioner who was seeing eighteen private clients a week. She charged $175 an hour—a rate she’d been bold enough to claim.

Across four fully booked weeks, that’s 18 × $175 × 4 = $12,600 in gross revenue.

Look at what it took to earn it.

She prepared before each appointment and wrote notes afterward. She needed time to get ready for the next person. An hour with a client required ninety minutes to two hours of her working day.

Those eighteen appointments added up to twenty-seven to thirty-six hours a week. Marketing, scheduling, bookkeeping, and everything else required to run the practice came on top of that.

She’d built a business that depended on her being available, week after week, appointment after appointment.

The question I want you to ask is: How much of your life does this income require? What would you change if you designed the business around the life you want?

Build an offer with a purpose, a price, and an end date

A coaching package organizes the work into a defined engagement. Your client commits to a process around something she wants to change.

Take an eight-week engagement for women who want to stop arranging their lives around everyone else’s expectations and make a clear decision about what comes next. Four private sessions, relevant exercises, and a defined amount of support between appointments give that work a structure.

Price the offer according to your competence, the value of the service, its delivery costs, and demand among the women you intend to serve.

Here’s the arithmetic at three illustrative price points:

New clients Package price Gross sales booked
3 $4,000 $12,000
4 $3,000 $12,000
4 $4,000 $16,000

These figures describe gross sales booked. Payment plans spread collection over time. Business expenses and taxes come out of the revenue.

Your calendar needs equally clear arithmetic. With four new clients starting every four weeks and each engagement lasting eight weeks, you’d have about eight active clients once the schedule reached a steady flow.

Four sessions per client over eight weeks averages about four private sessions a week across those eight clients. Add the preparation and support you’ve included in the offer.

That’s a very different appointment schedule from eighteen private clients every week. Getting there requires a useful offer, clients who want it, and consistent sales. The business model gives you a structure to work toward.

Set boundaries around delivery from the beginning. Unlimited access to you fills your calendar again, whatever price you put on it.

Know which woman you’re helping and what she wants to change

A woman buys a service because she recognizes her problem and understands the help you’re offering.

Start with the women you understand best:

  • For a yoga teacher: women who want to reconnect with their own desires after years of putting everyone else first.
  • For a Reiki practitioner: women seeking a separate coaching service to help them work through a major life decision.
  • For a wellness professional: women who want to turn what they’ve learned about themselves into boundaries, decisions, and practical action.

Use conversations with your clients to develop the offer. Ask what they want help with, what they’ve already tried, and what they’d value in a structured engagement.

Some clients will want coaching. Others will keep coming for the service they already love. Build your offer for the women who want the additional work.

What does the coaching-income research tell us?

The International Coaching Federation’s 2023 Global Coaching Study reported average annual coaching revenue/income of $67,800 in North America, using 2022 data. The figure covers coaches with different levels of experience and specialties. It describes a regional revenue average; your own earnings depend on your business.

For your practice, work backward from the income you need. Include costs, taxes, time off, and the hours required to deliver each offer. Calculate the number of clients you need and the number you’re equipped to serve well.

A sustainable practice earns enough to support you and leaves you time to live.

Add coaching alongside the work you already do

Keep the income that supports you while you train and develop your coaching service. Define what someone receives in a yoga class, a Reiki session, and a coaching engagement. Give each service its own purpose and scope.

Begin with one focused offer. Review the hours it takes to deliver, the usefulness of the process for clients, and the revenue it produces. Refine the service before expanding it.

Build room for time off into the schedule and the price. Taking a vacation belongs in the business plan.
