How to Reclaim Your Feminine Power
In this week's episode:
Find your power in your voice and choices.
Your voice, emotions, intuition, and creativity all contribute to the freedom to direct your own life. Reclaiming feminine power begins with recognizing the choices already available to you.
Through her grandmother's life after wartime imprisonment and displacement, Alanna explores personal agency, earning money, storytelling, and emotional expression. Consider where you have room to act, create, and speak—and how to express feelings without turning them into blame.

in finding our own power power in today's society
0:00:09.520,0:00:15.440
is incredibly valued but there are different ways
to wield power and what I want to talk about on
0:00:15.440,0:00:22.680
today's podcast is how we can be powerful
as feminine women and how to lean into the
0:00:22.680,0:00:30.160
power inherent in our femininity. Welcome to
The Satisfied Woman podcast. I'm your host,

0:01:10.720,0:01:17.800
great day to bring this new page forward for you
the Empower me page because we are talking about
0:01:17.800,0:01:23.160
the concept of feminine power and I want to
discuss its significance in today's world and
0:01:23.160,0:01:29.400
how it contrasts with traditional Notions of
power so let's start with the more traditional
0:01:29.400,0:01:34.320
Notions and where we're coming from and probably
what you think of or even experience in your own
0:01:34.320,0:01:42.720
life as what people think is power so first of all
power is often associated with strength uh meaning
0:01:42.720,0:01:48.800
physical strength or physical might we think of
cars or trucks as powerful I think of the horses
0:01:48.800,0:01:56.080
I enjoy riding as powerful I think of people who
work out in the gym as powerful and yes there is a
0:01:56.080,0:02:01.920
lot of power in strength for sure but those are
two different qualities you can be strong and
0:02:01.920,0:02:09.600
still be incredibly weak so even if you can lift
9 million pounds with some pretty Fierce biceps if
0:02:09.600,0:02:16.960
you don't have the capacity to stand in your own
power your own internal power then what kind of
0:02:16.960,0:02:23.280
strength do you really have lifting weights
or being physically strong certainly is one
0:02:23.280,0:02:30.880
thing standing in your own power is the sense of
knowing who you are knowing truly who you are to
0:02:30.880,0:02:39.480
your core and having the freedom or the agency to
actually be that in the world now when I describe
0:02:39.480,0:02:45.200
it that way it might be easy to understand that
for women this has been a very difficult thing
0:02:45.200,0:02:52.200
to do in the past and even still today remains
an uphill battle being free to be who we are
0:02:52.200,0:02:57.040
as women can often be very dangerous in many
ways it can be physically dangerous emotionally
0:02:57.040,0:03:04.600
dangerous psychologically dangerous Liv living in
a patriarchal society as we do means that feminine
0:03:04.600,0:03:11.400
gifts and qualities are typically devalued and
so it feels like we are compromising something
0:03:11.400,0:03:16.920
if we really lean into our femininity stand in
our true power and unleash those gifts on the
0:03:16.920,0:03:25.000
world many of us me included right I speak because
I have the experience to hide our femininity and
0:03:25.000,0:03:32.280
our Womanhood to some extent in order to try to
lean into what is viewed masculine forms of power
0:03:32.280,0:03:37.880
so we often associate power with masculinity
as well not just that physical strength but
0:03:37.880,0:03:45.000
the power to make decisions the power to lead we
think of our military as strong and powerful and
0:03:45.000,0:03:51.920
we typically think of the military as a more
masculine Endeavor or um masculine um career
0:03:51.920,0:04:00.080
choice or masculine pathway it doesn't necessarily
have to be remember femininity can be done in any
0:04:00.080,0:04:07.520
Arena it's just going to be that you do things
a little differently uh women females feminine
0:04:07.520,0:04:12.520
women can absolutely be in the military I've
known many of them who are incredibly strong
0:04:12.520,0:04:18.720
and powerful they're going to hold that military
might in a different way they're going to hold it
0:04:18.720,0:04:25.120
in a feminine way so there is a difference between
masculine power and feminine power power does not
0:04:25.120,0:04:32.800
just belong to the masculine and of course in a
distorted way masculine power has often been used
0:04:32.800,0:04:42.280
to oppress so there's a concept of power over
versus Power with Now power over is typically
0:04:42.280,0:04:50.480
how distorted power looks and power over someone
else power over a situation power over a decision
0:04:50.480,0:04:58.000
power over a household when people feel like they
have power over others it does maybe for a moment
0:04:58.000,0:05:08.880
or maybe in a false way give them a sense of
accomplishment or Pride or control anytime we
0:05:08.880,0:05:16.320
feel a sense of control over someone or power over
someone what that requires unfortunately is for us
0:05:16.320,0:05:22.480
to take power away from them and this has often
been the plight of the woman um so for those of
0:05:22.480,0:05:27.880
you I I released this podcast as an audio podcast
of course on all of the podcast channels that
0:05:27.880,0:05:35.560
you're familiar with apple podcast Spotify um but
I also released this podcast as a video on iTunes
0:05:35.560,0:05:40.720
oh and Spotify just started having video podcast
as well so if you happen to be watching the video
0:05:40.720,0:05:48.560
of this podcast you'll see that in this episode
I'm wearing a scarf and this is a wool scarf it is
0:05:48.560,0:05:54.200
kind of a cream color and it's got beautiful pink
flowers printed on it and it matches the shirt
0:05:54.200,0:06:00.080
I'm wearing I thought I'd tie it all in today
for you now the reason the scarf is important
0:06:00.080,0:06:07.640
and I promise relevant to the topic of power
is because this was my grandmother's scarf now
0:06:07.640,0:06:12.120
when you read my book The Way of the satisfied
woman which I sure hope you do or if you read
0:06:12.120,0:06:17.800
any of the blogs that I've posted on my website
the satisfied woman.com uh you're going to hear
0:06:17.800,0:06:26.080
a lot about my grandmother she was perhaps the
most powerful and influential woman in my life as
0:06:26.080,0:06:34.560
a young girl and even to this day she passed away
in 2018 and to this day she is still the voice in
0:06:34.560,0:06:40.680
my head I imagine when my intuition comes through
she's the voice that I hear she was an incredibly
0:06:40.680,0:06:48.120
powerful figure in my life but her background was
from a a very unempowered place or a disempowered
0:06:48.120,0:06:53.760
place she went through World War II and I mean
I don't think anybody who went through World War
0:06:53.760,0:06:59.640
II went through it in a in a not traumatic way
but my grandmother's path through World War II
0:06:59.640,0:07:05.000
was particularly traumatic she was taken from her
home in the Ukraine at the age of 14 separated
0:07:05.000,0:07:11.240
from her family put into a prison camp and
essentially forced to work she was forced
0:07:11.240,0:07:17.720
labor for many years in that prison camp uh on
her own as a young woman she wasn't fed properly
0:07:17.720,0:07:23.840
she wasn't treated properly of course she was
abused uh and she was disempowered she was in
0:07:23.840,0:07:33.120
a place where her power was taken away from her
and she wasn't allowed to be who she was now as
0:07:33.120,0:07:38.200
a result she became very quiet her voice got
shut off and I I think that this is something
0:07:38.200,0:07:43.480
that happens to many women who are in any kind of
situation where they are disempowered their voice
0:07:43.480,0:07:51.720
gets squashed and one of the qualities of course
of powerful femininity is our communication we do
0:07:51.720,0:07:59.520
love to gab we just do this is true of um any
feminine woman uh and if it's not true for you
0:07:59.520,0:08:04.560
as a feminine woman just you know consider that
that maybe there's something that needs to be said
0:08:04.560,0:08:08.080
or perhaps you're saying it in a different way
perhaps you're saying it through ART or perhaps
0:08:08.080,0:08:12.360
you're saying it through text messages or perhaps
you're saying it through the way you physically
0:08:12.360,0:08:19.440
communicate but we really hold the pathways of
connection and communication in our femininity
0:08:19.440,0:08:25.400
so she really shut that down she was quite quiet
she reduced her opinions she reduced her footprint
0:08:25.400,0:08:32.960
she reduced her Mark she basically played small
and that was the way she uh stayed alive so that
0:08:32.960,0:08:40.120
is of course an appropriate coping mechanism but
it didn't allow her to flourish and as a young
0:08:40.120,0:08:46.720
woman this experience of going through World War
II was very impactful for her it was certainly
0:08:46.720,0:08:51.720
something she never forgot and as I witnessed
her growing up and I had the great Fortune to
0:08:51.720,0:08:59.560
spend a lot of time with her it affected her
every single day there wasn't a day that went
0:08:59.560,0:09:06.280
by that either she didn't mention it or relive a
memory or tell me about something or behave in a
0:09:06.280,0:09:12.440
way that reflected those years that she was not
only in the prison camp during World War II but
0:09:12.440,0:09:18.960
she actually ended up staying there as a refugee
after the war for 13 years um until she was able
0:09:18.960,0:09:24.760
to immigrate with immigrate to America with um my
grandfather and her two daughters of course one of
0:09:24.760,0:09:33.360
those being my mother so her power was taken from
her not only by the very difficult circumstances
0:09:33.360,0:09:40.480
of War but by the men and the masculine Paradigm
that was in charge at that time forcing her to
0:09:40.480,0:09:47.560
play small and essentially as I like to call it to
delete herself she had to minimize her footprint
0:09:47.560,0:09:53.200
she had to delete her personality she had to
delete her impact um you know and as I speak
0:09:53.200,0:09:56.880
these words I think about the times in my own
life that I've had to do that under difficult
0:09:56.880,0:10:01.680
circumstances and perhaps you'll think about the
times in your life that you've also had to do the
0:10:01.680,0:10:06.560
same thing that there would have been something
you would have said but you kept your mouth shut
0:10:06.560,0:10:12.560
that you had an intuitive knowing that something
was not okay and yet you did it anyway that you
0:10:12.560,0:10:19.080
had a desire to bring something forth into the
world a creative Endeavor and you kept that desire
0:10:19.080,0:10:24.840
quiet and unrealized because bringing something
into the world at the time would have been either
0:10:24.840,0:10:33.200
unsafe or unwelcome so I grew up with these
stories from my grandmother who by the time I
0:10:33.200,0:10:40.440
arrived on the scene she had regained some of her
power she had come into herself a little bit more
0:10:40.440,0:10:44.800
and uh for those of you watching the video you can
see this beautiful scarf I'm wearing and trust me
0:10:44.800,0:10:50.440
I don't have a lot of things from my grandmother
but the things that I have are precious and they
0:10:50.440,0:10:58.320
are colorful my Grandma had style when she got to
America she decided especially since she couldn't
0:10:58.320,0:11:04.080
afford to purchase clothing that she would learn
to sew and she sewed all the clothing that she
0:11:04.080,0:11:10.080
weared uh weared wor over the years um and they
were beautiful and I have some of those items
0:11:10.080,0:11:15.760
maybe I'll wear one on a feature podcast uh she
had beautiful scars that she'd always wear she
0:11:15.760,0:11:20.840
just loved colors she loved flowers and that
was part of her own self-expression she leaned
0:11:20.840,0:11:26.600
into once she was free from basically being told
what to wear what to do what to say every single
0:11:26.600,0:11:33.680
day so I loved that element of self-expression
I loved her coming into her own and some of the
0:11:33.680,0:11:40.400
things that made her feel powerful was having a
career she loved being a career woman when she
0:11:40.400,0:11:46.120
got to America she was able to find a very simple
minimum wage job that didn't require any skills
0:11:46.120,0:11:50.080
because of course she didn't have any education
um I think she went to school up to maybe third or
0:11:50.080,0:11:56.160
fourth grade and that was it and she ran the copy
room before there were Xerox machines she ran the
0:11:56.160,0:12:03.600
giant machines that copied the plans for American
Crystal Sugar Factory and that company no longer
0:12:03.600,0:12:09.240
exists but she was very proud when they were
thriving that every time a new Factory was built
0:12:09.240,0:12:13.880
that she had printed the plans for that factory
and she was also responsible for keeping the break
0:12:13.880,0:12:19.360
room clean so she was sort of the um the connector
around the office she was in the break room they
0:12:19.360,0:12:23.080
didn't give her a separate office so she was in
the break room all day so everybody who came in
0:12:23.080,0:12:30.440
and out she would say hello to and be friendly
with and that gave her some social experiences
0:12:30.440,0:12:37.480
uh and she loved after she retired receiving her
very small pension check every month because it
0:12:37.480,0:12:44.240
had her name on it my grandmother came from a time
when women weren't allowed to have their own bank
0:12:44.240,0:12:49.920
accounts and they weren't allowed to have their
own mortgages so um trust me everybody I I love my
0:12:49.920,0:12:56.400
grandmother and my grandfather equally um but my
grandfather was afforded a lot more opportunities
0:12:56.400,0:13:02.200
even as an immigrant Coming to America than my
grandmother was so the only money that was truly
0:13:02.200,0:13:08.080
hers was the money that she earned through that
low-wage job and the pension that she received
0:13:08.080,0:13:13.840
every month as a retired person and she was so
proud of it that it was the work that she put
0:13:13.840,0:13:18.080
out into the world that earned her this little bit
of money every month and she had this little coin
0:13:18.080,0:13:23.080
purse that she'd put her actual physical dollars
in because of course she didn't have a checking
0:13:23.080,0:13:28.200
account of her own so that was something that made
her very proud her creative Endeavors also made
0:13:28.200,0:13:34.280
her very proud and powerful it was a way for her
to connect with friends and family uh I had many
0:13:34.280,0:13:40.640
many knitted sweaters from her every dress I wore
up to about the age of eight or nine was a dress
0:13:40.640,0:13:45.920
that she had made for me and another way that my
grandmother expressed her power was by telling
0:13:45.920,0:13:53.640
stories she shared with me stories about her life
because she felt safe in the environment with me
0:13:53.640,0:14:00.520
to do so and after my grandfather passed away he
was very hesitant to share about the hardships
0:14:00.520,0:14:08.040
they experienced in World War II so the stories
were a little fewer and far farther between while
0:14:08.040,0:14:14.360
he was alive but once he passed on and it was um
about 20 years before she did boy oh boy she just
0:14:14.360,0:14:22.360
blossomed and flourished and started speaking so I
got to witness my grandmother who was so important
0:14:22.360,0:14:30.840
to me and really a beacon for me of femininity
as a young woman come in into her power as an
0:14:30.840,0:14:38.640
old woman and it made me identify what being a
powerful woman is because it doesn't mean that
0:14:38.640,0:14:47.840
we need to lift 900 lb uh in a bench press it
doesn't mean that we need to be an overt leader
0:14:47.840,0:14:55.720
to the detriment of others and have power over
other people it's not a hierarchical expression
0:14:55.720,0:15:03.120
true feminine power which is what I want you
to reclaim if you've lost it in any way in any
0:15:03.120,0:15:10.240
part true feminine power comes from our greatest
gifts and the greatest gifts of the feminine are
0:15:10.240,0:15:16.040
our emotions and our emotional connection
and our intuition our ability to tap into
0:15:16.040,0:15:22.760
that inner knowing those are inherently feminine
now everyone has those gifts even those who lean
0:15:22.760,0:15:29.240
more fully into the masculine polarity certainly
have emotions and certainly have intuition and
0:15:29.240,0:15:35.720
is the feminine aspect of them that is the
harbinger of those so if they lean more fully
0:15:35.720,0:15:41.480
into the masculine they won't necessarily bring
those forth all the time they won't necessarily
0:15:41.480,0:15:46.840
trust them as much as we would all the time
and they won't necessarily have as deep and
0:15:46.840,0:15:52.520
Powerful as a of a connection as we do all the
time for feminine women when we really lean into
0:15:52.520,0:15:57.480
our femininity we are connected to our emotions
and our intuition all the time and that is where
0:15:57.480,0:16:04.320
we are going to thrive that is where we are going
to feel and be most powerful when we're fully in
0:16:04.320,0:16:12.360
charge of and demonstrating our femininity to the
world people will experience that as powerful they
0:16:12.360,0:16:20.280
will see that as inspiring as comforting when we
are most fully ourselves we are powerful and this
0:16:20.280,0:16:26.920
is true for anybody any qualities they have when
they bring them forth fully of course when those
0:16:26.920,0:16:32.120
qualities are of benefit to others we don't want
um you know we don't want to go to the dark side
0:16:32.120,0:16:36.800
of anything here that's kind of the difference
between the power over versus Power with as soon
0:16:36.800,0:16:44.120
as power slides into power over any qualities can
be manipulated to a disastrous end so keeping in
0:16:44.120,0:16:51.440
mind that power with and again that power with
is a very feminine fundamental idea femininity
0:16:51.440,0:17:00.800
wants collaboration it wants communion it wants
to be with and for others so when we demonstrate
0:17:00.800,0:17:06.360
our fullness when we demonstrate our power it is
going to be Illuminating for those around us it's
0:17:06.360,0:17:14.160
going to be empowering for those around us our
power will help to shine the light up inside of
0:17:14.160,0:17:21.920
others as well now when we connect to our emotions
when we are completely ourselves then our emotions
0:17:21.920,0:17:28.920
are going to be like guide posts for what feels
right and what doesn't feel right and when we live
0:17:28.920,0:17:33.600
listen to that more fully and when people trust
us when we're surrounded by people who trust us
0:17:33.600,0:17:41.720
and Trust our emotional guidance then they will
be empowered by the emotions that come up for us
0:17:41.720,0:17:48.600
when they come up in a healthy way when we emote
in a healthy way if we feel sad that full sadness
0:17:48.600,0:17:54.600
doesn't necessarily bleed out into others around
us it doesn't necessarily depress others around us
0:17:54.600,0:18:01.040
it can actually move others around us to either
Comfort the the sadness and be present for us
0:18:01.040,0:18:07.960
in our sadness which is connective or to alter
our condition in some way or their condition in
0:18:07.960,0:18:14.480
some way so that we alleviate the sadness now I
want to be careful because sadness is not wrong
0:18:14.480,0:18:19.520
there's nothing wrong with sadness the point
isn't to not be sad sadness is a normal human
0:18:19.520,0:18:27.200
emotion and you know it's going to happen we want
to have lives that uh we are free to experience
0:18:27.200,0:18:31.760
the full range of human emotion with whenever it
is coming up the challenge isn't that emotions
0:18:31.760,0:18:37.960
come up the challenge is when it becomes uh too
drawn out or when it becomes harmful to others
0:18:37.960,0:18:47.200
so what I mean by that is in a natural way humans
uh will have emotions that last between 60 and 90
0:18:47.200,0:18:53.040
seconds so when an emotion arises in a natural
way you know when whatever incident occurs and
0:18:53.040,0:19:00.120
you feel something from it that natural basic
emotion will last only about 609 60 90 seconds
0:19:00.120,0:19:04.800
and then it will pass I know and you're thinking
of me well wait a minute you know sometimes I
0:19:04.800,0:19:12.000
get in a funk for years or sometimes I'll feel
anxiety you know for months um I understand I
0:19:12.000,0:19:19.760
do too I do too that is the participation of the
mind and the thoughts around the emotion not the
0:19:19.760,0:19:27.640
emotion itself when we ret traumatize ourselves
by talking over and over about the incident when
0:19:27.640,0:19:35.040
we continuously think over and over about the
triggering event then the emotions drag on and
0:19:35.040,0:19:41.560
become a little more stuck and that becomes a
challenge but when a natural emotion arises in
0:19:41.560,0:19:47.160
response to something that's going on with us
it's incredible communication about how we're
0:19:47.160,0:19:52.480
feeling about our environment and for those who
are slightly less tapped into our emotions but
0:19:52.480,0:19:58.880
who are tuned into US it provides information to
keep everyone happy and healthy and the energy
0:19:58.880,0:20:07.400
flowing so sadness is information frustration is
information even anger is information I told you a
0:20:07.400,0:20:12.240
little bit about my grandmother uh I want to tell
you about another friend who I love to talk about
0:20:12.240,0:20:17.160
um I think I write about her in my book and I I I
think I've mentioned her before on this podcast I
0:20:17.160,0:20:25.240
consider her superpower to be her full expression
of emotions when she is feeling something she just
0:20:25.240,0:20:31.360
expresses it and she has an incredible amount of
integrity so that when she expresses her emotions
0:20:31.360,0:20:38.760
it it's not coupled with any kind of blame or
shame or attack when she expresses her emotions
0:20:38.760,0:20:46.120
she very clearly states what she is feeling and
why and she's open to receiving feedback about
0:20:46.120,0:20:53.000
what to do or why that is or how to shift it I've
never met anybody like her and in fact I strive
0:20:53.000,0:20:59.440
as much as I can to be like that um she's quite
the inspiration in this way she just has such a
0:20:59.440,0:21:05.120
full and beautiful command of her emotions and
I find it very powerful because I watch people
0:21:05.120,0:21:13.640
around her respond to that I watch them shift and
maneuver to help Elevate her and make her more
0:21:13.640,0:21:19.440
comfortable but in doing so it's not like it's not
like a princess Vibe it's not like everybody's cow
0:21:19.440,0:21:26.640
Towing to her or pandering in any way they really
love her especially her husband he really loves
0:21:26.640,0:21:32.560
her and he's very responsive and he's very playful
as well with how he resp oh no you know here we go
0:21:32.560,0:21:40.360
again he'll say as some husbands will um but he's
responsive and he adjusts he course corrects and
0:21:40.360,0:21:48.080
in doing so they have a very symbiotic and
unified communication system and a very uh
0:21:48.080,0:21:55.640
symbiotic life that flows in a beautiful Direction
so power for us as feminine women lies in our full
0:21:55.640,0:22:01.520
expression of emotions and being around people
people who understand and respond to them in a
0:22:01.520,0:22:12.640
healthy way another element of feminine power
is our intuition and you know I it's a toss up
0:22:12.640,0:22:18.840
for me whether it's Intuition or emotions that
are more powerful for the feminine I think maybe
0:22:18.840,0:22:24.000
it's an individual experience right because we're
all different so perhaps you as a feminine woman
0:22:24.000,0:22:30.560
like my good friend her emotions are just they're
gold uh and perhaps for some others of us it's the
0:22:30.560,0:22:36.040
intuition that really is where our sweet spot is
for navigating life and finding more satisfaction
0:22:36.040,0:22:43.800
in life when we have intuition as women um that is
absolutely one of our most powerful gifts and I I
0:22:43.800,0:22:49.600
describe it as the voice of our ancestors coming
through our female ancestors coming through they
0:22:49.600,0:22:56.840
have had tremendous experiences they have lived
through Millennia of this patriarchal culture that
0:22:56.840,0:23:02.440
we have now inherited and they have wisdom for
us and it's written into our biology if you've
0:23:02.440,0:23:08.480
ever looked into something called epigenetics
you know that this is actually in our DNA it is
0:23:08.480,0:23:14.160
activated by certain life events and triggers
that we go through and something arises from
0:23:14.160,0:23:18.880
within us and we don't know why and it may not
be because we've experienced anything like it
0:23:18.880,0:23:25.600
before but there is just an inner knowing that
we need to do this or that or shift our course
0:23:25.600,0:23:34.200
or respond in a certain way now I maintain
and I'm happy to to take bets on this one but
0:23:34.200,0:23:42.360
I maintain that any time a woman disregards
her intuition that it will not have a good
0:23:42.360,0:23:51.040
outcome now I I left a long dramatic pause there
for for a reason I feel that very strongly and
0:23:51.040,0:23:55.280
I know that to be true in my own life and I know
that to be true in the lives of the women that I
0:23:55.280,0:24:05.320
speak with as well and talk to that we always look
back on moments where we didn't heed our intuition
0:24:05.320,0:24:12.720
and we recognize in hindsight that those moments
were moments of disempowerment moments where we
0:24:12.720,0:24:21.520
were not ourselves that we weren't in our fullness
that we were convinced by the agenda of another by
0:24:21.520,0:24:28.440
someone else having power over us if it's not
right for us if it doesn't feel right if our
0:24:28.440,0:24:36.360
emotions start to well up in a in a not great way
in a negative way if we have an intuitive hit to
0:24:36.360,0:24:42.560
not go down that road but we do anyway that is
a disempowered state and it will end up with a
0:24:42.560,0:24:53.920
negative result so embracing our feminine power
is in some sense it's a leadership role because
0:24:53.920,0:25:02.320
when we do it fully those around us will be
inspired by us and will be responsive but
0:25:02.320,0:25:08.240
it just means that we're leading ourselves we
have agency we're in charge of ourselves when
0:25:08.240,0:25:15.120
we're in full embodiment embodiment and power
of ourselves and we listen to our intuition and
0:25:15.120,0:25:22.520
our guidance we are always going to be on the
right path now my grandmother was very much on
0:25:22.520,0:25:30.280
her right path once she escaped from the trauma
and the hardship that she went through and when
0:25:30.280,0:25:35.480
she started to be able to make her own decisions
which really wasn't until she got to America and
0:25:35.480,0:25:43.120
probably even decades after um you know she still
brought a lot of her inculturation with her um I
0:25:43.120,0:25:49.560
really feel like one of the greatest things that
she did every day was go on a f mile walk that
0:25:49.560,0:25:55.200
was her ability to connect that was her ability
to be herself she wasn't listening to the noise
0:25:55.200,0:25:59.680
of others I mean I remember even you know again I
like I said my my grandfather and my grandmother
0:25:59.680,0:26:06.600
share equal love in my eyes but my grandfather
voted for my grandmother when they got their
0:26:06.600,0:26:11.280
ballots in the mail he would just take hers and
and Mark exactly what he was voting for and then
0:26:11.280,0:26:17.080
send them in so there were still a lot of ways in
which she was disempowered but I saw her powerful
0:26:17.080,0:26:24.400
when she walked she was so accomplished with her
she was so proud that she was walking um after
0:26:24.400,0:26:33.080
my grandfather died my mom actually decided
to enroll her in 5K races walk races and in
0:26:33.080,0:26:41.600
her age group she always won and I remember the
first time she won her 5K she was beaming with
0:26:41.600,0:26:47.840
pride beaming with pride because this was hers
this is what she wanted to do this is where she
0:26:47.840,0:26:54.640
found a sense of connection to Nature to her
femininity and to herself when we're connected
0:26:54.640,0:27:00.640
to ourselves we are powerful the the other way
in which women are powerful feminine women are
0:27:00.640,0:27:05.400
powerful so emotions intuition leaning into those
listening to those being in environments around
0:27:05.400,0:27:10.680
people who respond them incredibly powerful when
we are most fully ourselves we are powerful and
0:27:10.680,0:27:16.000
one of the things that makes feminine women most
fully themselves is their sense of creativity now
0:27:16.000,0:27:21.040
I have another podcast on creativity so I won't go
too much into what creativity is but it expresses
0:27:21.040,0:27:28.480
itself in many ways it is whatever you generate
from almost nothing and as women we can do that
0:27:28.480,0:27:34.560
in incredible ways not just by literally creating
something from almost nothing in terms of having a
0:27:34.560,0:27:40.040
child but creating something from almost nothing
in terms of birthing new ideas into the world it
0:27:40.040,0:27:46.800
doesn't have to be Artistry it doesn't have to be
um something that people would commonly term as
0:27:46.800,0:27:51.640
creative but whatever it is that you generate
whatever it is that you birth into the world
0:27:51.640,0:27:58.120
makes you creative and the world needs it so any
stifling of that for the feminine is disempower
0:27:59.040,0:28:05.680
and it will make us feel closed and make us feel
small uh women are inherently powerful we are
0:28:05.680,0:28:13.320
inherently ambitious we inherently understand when
and where change needs to happen in our world and
0:28:13.320,0:28:19.600
we will create that change with our creativity you
know I think about the powerful me too movement
0:28:19.600,0:28:26.840
and the pink [ __ ] hats that everybody was
knitting what an incredibly creative emblem of a
0:28:26.840,0:28:35.440
movement that centers women's safety so that kind
of creativity that kind of communion and community
0:28:35.440,0:28:41.480
that kind of moving life forward letting everyone
around us know hey this is the best pathway for
0:28:41.480,0:28:47.160
us for my community for my tribe there are many
Pathways I am not saying there is one pathway
0:28:47.160,0:28:53.680
for all women but for you and those you align
yourself with you will occupy a leadership role
0:28:53.680,0:28:59.840
as an embodied feminine woman when you lean into
your intuition emotions and your creativity and
0:28:59.840,0:29:06.520
start bringing forward from within you the kind of
world the kind of life and the kind of living that
0:29:06.520,0:29:14.160
is most authentic for you and most inspiring to
those around you so embracing your feminine power
0:29:14.160,0:29:21.240
truly means having the freedom and fearlessness
to lean into who you are as a feminine
0:29:21.240,0:29:28.040
woman now just as I say that even I feel
like a weight removing from my shoulders
0:29:28.960,0:29:36.640
um and I also feel the juxtaposition of the spaces
and places that women still exist in that make
0:29:36.640,0:29:46.760
that kind of power difficult compromised or even
dangerous so as you listen to this podcast my dear
0:29:46.760,0:29:53.360
fellow satisfied sister I hope you'll think
about places spaces and ways in which you can
0:29:53.360,0:29:59.840
lean in to your power that are safe and that are
inspiring for you you may be in a position where
0:29:59.840,0:30:04.400
you can do this fully in your life and you may be
in a position where you can do this in one area
0:30:04.400,0:30:09.920
of your life but in whatever way is appropriate
for you I hope that you will I hope that you will
0:30:09.920,0:30:15.520
start to bring forth your power in as many ways
as you can just as my grandmother did um another
0:30:15.520,0:30:20.760
creative thing that she did was she used to make
me scrunchies she used to knit sweaters she used
0:30:20.760,0:30:27.520
to make clothing and she used to make food she
loved me through food and all of those ways
0:30:27.520,0:30:38.480
that she brought her love her heart her soul into
the world made my world better and we can do that
0:30:38.480,0:30:45.160
for others so this one's for you baba so for the
women in your life who've inspired you for your
0:30:45.160,0:30:52.480
ancestors listen to your intuition for the people
around you who love you listen to your emotions
0:30:52.480,0:31:00.520
and for all the people who are around you and want
to come after you bring forth your creativity all
0:31:00.520,0:31:05.960
